Preparation
Dear First Time Students:
Allow this 90 minute yoga experience be a non-judgemental environment.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes before class starts
- Please refrain from using perfumes, oils or lotions, cell phones and hand towels.
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – drink at least a litre of water before you arrive
- Please refrain from eating 2-3 hours before you arrive to class
- Bring a mat, two towels and a bottle of water; mats and towels are available for rental and water for purchase.
- Dress the part. No need to be shy; less is more in the heated yoga room, you want your body to breathe. For ladies we recommend a bra-top and shorts, and men a pair of shorts in which you can move and stretch in.
- Keep an open mind. Understand your yoga practice takes time and patience; you won’t get everything on your first day. Trying the postures to the best of your ability is more important than how they look or how flexible you are. Trust and listen to your body and the instruction from teachers. With patience, determination and time, it will come.
- Come back the next day! Returning for that second class the next day is the best way to rid your body of any soreness or stiffness. Over time you will understand the yoga and be inspired to practice more.
In the Studio:
- Honour the studio as a sacred place.
- Turn off your cell phones- The studio and change rooms are “no phone zones”
- Kindly hang your coats in the lobby entrance room and place your boots neatly on the mat.
In the Yoga Room:
- Always observe silence
- Yourself, your mat, one towel and your water bottle are all that is allowed in the practice room. A cluttered room is a cluttered mind
- Please unroll your mat outside of the practice room and quietly place it down.
- No glass bottles.
- No shoes or flipflops
- No gum.
- No perfumes, oils or lotions
- Refrain from wearing excess jewellery and watches.
The Yoga studio is a place of honor, dignity and respect and when practiced, everyone benefits. NAMASTE
